PicoSure Laser Tattoo Removal Gold Coast

Laser technology has made it possible to remove unwanted tattoos via a faster and safer method than ever before. No longer will patients need to consider skin-damaging treatments such as acid removal, excision, and dermabrasion.

Today’s aesthetic lasers offer a proven alternative for safer and more effective ink removal. Even difficult ink colours such as blues and greens, as well as previously treated tattoos, can be removed in fewer treatments with better clearance and improved recovery time with a Picosure laser.

Tattoos can also be lightened in preparation for a cover-up tattoo. It is usually recommended that you wait 12 weeks from your final treatment until you get your new tattoo.

How PicoSure Tattoo Removal Works

Lasers remove the ink by targeting the ink pigment with a high-intensity light beam causing it to break up into smaller molecules. The ink is then removed and flushed by the body’s natural immune processes, fading the tattoo until it’s no longer visible.

PicoSure has produced positive results with stubborn colours and previously treated tattoos. The disrupted ink particles are typically absorbed and eliminated over an 8 week period after each treatment, (this is how long it takes the immune system to flush the ink particles) but individual results will vary.

Our Process

Your initial appointment will be a consultation only. Here we will examine the tattoo you would like removed and the area around it for any skin conditions that could affect our ability to remove the tattoo or the final results. At Point Laser we have the benefit of being located within the Paradise Point Family Medical Centre, giving us immediate access to GP’s and qualified medical professionals if we require them.

How to Prepare for your Tattoo Removal

Once all assessments have been completed we will run you through a checklist of recommendations you should follow prior to your first laser session. These include:

  • Minimise or completely avoid (if possible) sun exposure to the tattoo area for up to 6 weeks before the treatment
  • Do not apply fake tan at least 10 days prior to treatment
  • Ensure the area of the tattoo and the skin around the tattoo is clean and has no skin-care products remaining (such as moisturiser and or fake tan)
  • Avoid taking any blood-thinning medication prior to the treatment such as Aspirin (Ibuprofen)
  • The day before your first laser tattoo removal treatment, shave the tattooed area
  • Apply numbing cream approximately 1 hour before the treatment (optional)

Ensuring the correct procedure is followed prior to treatment will enhance both the results of the tattoo removal and the recovery process.

PicoSure is the world’s first picosecond aesthetic laser cleared by the FDA.

How many sessions will it take?

A common question we get asked is how many sessions will it take to remove your tattoo? This can vary from person to person and depends on the age of the tattoo, location on the body, your overall health, ink density and colour of the tattoo.

We can’t guarantee a certain number of sessions but our patients usually see results within 2 to 6 sessions.

Feel free to message us for a quote, but make sure you include measurements of your tattoo and a picture if possible so that we can give you an accurate estimate.
